Day5: The Magic Kingdom

"Cinderella's Castle," the main landmark of Disney, is "frosted" to form the 25th Anniversary Cake.

The Magic Kingdom is of course the original Disney park and has all the classic characters. It's also where most of the "rides" are.

Katie & I decided to take the boat between the Kingdom and the many resorts and attractions.

The Kingdom is sub-divided into 4-5 areas, including "Tomorrowland," which has been preserved as the "future vision" from the 50's-60's. It's George Jetson, and I very much enjoyed the "Alien Encounter" attraction where once again Disney has you believing there's an alien in your totally-dark space ship (right down to the hot breath on the back of your neck!).

I'm proud to report I rode all the "mountains," Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Space mountain.

We again were lucky to see some nighttime visual treats, starting with "Mickey's Spectro Magic" (A Major League "Holi-Dazzle" parade) followed by the classic fireworks over the castle that most remember from the opening scenes of the Disney show on Sun. nights. Our magical vacation continued, as Tinkerbell "flew" from the castle off to Never Never Land right over our heads...... (Sorry, no photos of Tink or the fireworks, but I have the blurry ones to prove it! :)

Life After Dark

Disney's not just for kids any more. There are two large nightlife areas where the party continues 'till 2. The Boardwalk features a waterfront mix from New Orleans to Atlantic City.

Since it was included in our "length of stay" pass, I put on my party shirt and took Katie over to Pleasure Island, a collection of pubs, clubs, and dance floors. My 11yr old "date" was welcomed as an adult as we sipped our drinks at the Adventurers Club, a very funny comedy review located in a tasteful British "drawing room."
