Donis grew up in the small town of Buffalo Minnesota in a family of five, including one brother and one sister. She learned her business and sales skills early on in the family business of retail floorcovering. Her parents own three Carpet One franchise operations and have successfully done so for over 30 years.

Donis attended Hamline University from 1984-1988 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and elementary education. After graduation, she taught in a private kindergarten program for two years and received the award of Honor Teacher in 1990.

To pursue the public school sector, she left in 1990 to begin substitute teaching and did so for three more years. As a result, Donis has gained knowledge and information regarding many area school districts and what each has to offer that has helped relocating families in her busy real estate career.

In March of 2002 Donis and her husband Gene added to their family and had a baby boy named Garrett who has been keeping mom and dad busier than ever! In what little spare time is left, Donis and Gene enjoy boating on White Bear Lake, downhill and cross-country skiing, spending family time with Garrett and their Yorkshire Terrier, Chelsea, or working on one of three investment properties they own and rent out. Donis also enjoys scrapbooking. Gene earned his real estate license in March of 2003 and they are currently working together as a team, offering their clients twice the service for the same price!
