Minnetonka residents may have found the best of both worlds - a thriving business community interspersed within beautiful residential areas. In addition to nearby Lake Minnetonka, there are many ponds and three creek corridors that run through the city. Careful city planning has allowed Minnetonka to maintain areas of open space, park land and wetland areas.

The city of Minnetonka has numerous recreation programs and more than 40 public parks available to residents.

Minnetonka is served by the Hopkins District 270, Minnetonka Public School District 276, and Wayzata Public Schools 284.
