Wayzata

Wayzata is a small city located on the north shore of Lake Minnetonka. Its name was derived from the Indian word "Waziyata", which refers to the Sioux god of the north, a giant who blew the cold winds from his mouth. Today, is a both a beautiful weekend retreat for Twin City Residents, and a luxurious residential area with access to many specialty shops, restaurants and boutiques.

Although most of Wayzata's leisure activities are centered around water, (boating, water-skiing, sailing, ice fishing, etc.), there are several parks and golf courses - such as the Wayzata Country Club.

One of Wayzata's most charming features is its red trolley service. The trolley offers residents and visitors a free ride throughout the summer months - making shopping and exploring a breeze!

Residents are served by the Wayzata School District, which serves all or portions of eight west suburban municipalities and covers 38 square miles. The District extends north and east from Wayzata Bay on Lake Minnetonka and lies approximately eight miles west of Minneapolis.
