Rose Township was originally named for Isaac Rose, one of the first european settlers to arrive in the area. Isaac and his family settled on a claim near St. Anthony Road and Fairview Avenue. When the Federal government ordered a survey of the area, Isaac went to work on the surveying team. As a result, the township was named Rose. Today, this area includes Roseville, Falcon Heights and Lauderdale, and also part of St. Paul.

Residents of Roseville and Falcon Heights enjoy the communities' close proximity to the Twin Cities, as well as shopping centers, cultural events, and a fantastic park system located right within their boundaries. One of the most recognized landmarks in Roseville is Rosedale Center, pictured left.
Rosedale Center was opened in 1969, and immediately became a regional retail hub. Many clusters and strips of retail shops have been built in the area surrounding the mall.

Schools
Students are served by Roseville Area School District 623 and District 621 (Moundsview). District 623 also includes Lauderdale, Falcon Heights, Little Canada, parts of Arden Hills, Maplewood and Shoreview.

According to the Roseville Government and Community information, the late '70s and early '80s brought a change in emphasis from residential development to redevelopment of office and retail buildings. Much of the redevelopment has occurred in the northwestern section of the city, formerly occupied by many trucking company terminals.

In addition to Rosedale Center, shoppers can also browse HarMar Mall, located on Snelling just south of Highway 36. HarMar also holds several restaurants and a movie theater.

The city of Roseville owns 23 park sites, ranging in size from 2 acres to 220 acres. The parks include amenities such as ball fields, tennis and volleyball courts, biking/walking trails and picnic areas.
This large concert amphitheater (right) is located in Central Park, and is the setting for concerts every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evening beginning in June and ending in August.
Golfers in Falcon Heights and Roseville don't need to travel far to indulge. In Roseville, the Cedarholm Golf course is a 9-hole, par 27 facility that features a clubhouse and a concession area. The University Of Minnesota Les Bolstad Golf Course located in Falcon Heights is an 18 hole public golf course.

The John Rose MN Oval & Roseville Ice Arena is available for hockey, figure skating, open skating and speedskating. This indoor arena seats 1800 people.

Roseville's biggest housing boom took place in the early 70's. As a result, many of the homes in both Falcon Heights and Roseville are traditional split levels and one level ramblers. However, there are also luxurious lake homes (left), older bungalow style homes and new townhome developments (below) sprinkled among the older neighborhoods.
