How to select a Realtor
by Chas. Campbell
Hi, my name's Chas. Campbell, and I'm the owner of the MNRealty.com.
Obviously, I work for Realtors. I was a Realtor and a Broker here in MN for years.
I also have an extensive background in photography, advertising, and real estate sales.
Here's my opinion.
First, you should always have a Realtor.
Would you attempt self-surgery? Would you defend yourself in a serious court case? Would you wire your own
house? The only reason not to have a Realtor might be cost - and you can negotiate that fee after you see what you're being offered..
So how to choose a Realtor? I have two suggestions:
1) Experience and a proven track record of success. - The agents listed in the MNRealty.com together have
centuries of experience in Real Estate. You'll find past association presidents, metro-wide top producers, and
instructor-level professionals throughout its members. Each Realtor has published his/her credentials for your
inspection, plus some insights into their personal lives as well.
2) Local Market Knowledge. - The Metro (and State) areas encompass many cities and municipalities, each
with its own school district, parks, services, and real estate market. While an experienced and successful agent can
be quite effective throughout the entire metro, you will probably receive more market insight from an area specialist.
Other categories might apply besides geography, such as out-of-town relocation or new construction...
Note* - The Worst way to shop for a Realtor is price. When its time to buy or sell your most valuable
investment, (your home), don't you want the very best professional? Refer to the agents sales record and their
specific services offered. You usually get what you pay for.....
Note* - In Minnesota, as well as many other states, you - the consumer - have the right to be represented
by a Realtor in your housing transaction. Any reputable Realtor (all of our members) will gladly show you all of your
options and offer you choices in representation. I very much agree with this practice. - CFC.
